Asthma Quality Improvement Opportunity
We’re excited to share a new opportunity with the Pathways4Kids community!
As part of our ongoing work to connect hospitals and clinicians with resources that support evidence-based pediatric care, Pathways4Kids has been working with the American Academy of Pediatrics to help make our members aware of national quality improvement opportunities. This new collaborative focused on acute asthma care may be a great fit for hospitals looking to strengthen care, learn alongside other institutions, and measure their impact.
The AAP Pediatric Acute & Critical Care Quality Network is inviting hospitals nationwide to join the Acute Setting Toolkit for Home Management of Asthma (ASTHMA) Quality Improvement Collaborative—a high-impact national initiative designed to advance care for children ages 4–17 years treated for acute asthma exacerbations in emergency department and inpatient settings.
Over the course of this 12-month collaborative, participating hospitals will work to increase guideline-based controller medication prescribing at discharge, standardize asthma discharge practices, and reduce return visits and readmissions. Sites will gain access to expert coaching, educational resources, practical implementation tools, peer-learning opportunities, data benchmarking, and opportunities to earn CME/MOC/CE credit.
Onboarding begins in September, with an implementation target date of February 2027. Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen asthma care and outcomes at your hospital. Applications close September 6th.
