From Evidence to Action: Leveraging Evidence and Data to Improve Outcomes

This session will explore Texas Children’s Hospital’s structured approach to developing and implementing evidence-based clinical guidelines and pathways. Attendees will gain insight into how multidisciplinary teams translate evidence into measurable outcomes. The presentation will highlight communication processes and tools, metrics for evaluating adherence and effectiveness, and tools used for outcome tracking and analysis.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the process of translating evidence into measurable outcomes during the development of clinical guidelines and pathways at Texas Children’s.
  • Identify key data sources and metrics used to evaluate adherence and effectiveness of pediatric guidelines and pathway.
  • Select at least one practical tool or resource for capturing and analyzing data related to pathway adherence and outcome measurement.

Jodi Herron Behr, PhD, RN, EBP-CH, CPHQ, serves as an Evidence-Based Practice Specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital, where she leads multidisciplinary teams in developing and implementing evidence-based pathways. She earned her PhD in Nursing Science from The University of Texas Health Science Center and is a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist with extensive experience spanning neonatal, pediatric, academic, and healthcare quality settings. Dr. Behr holds certifications in evidence-based practice and healthcare quality and is deeply committed to bridging research and clinical practice to improve outcomes for children and families.

Advanced Quality Specialist, Texas Children’s Hospital

Phuong Tran is currently an Advanced Quality Specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital. She has over 10 years of experience in quality improvement. She has a strong passion for quality improvement and believes in using evidence-based research to guide better practices, improve outcomes, and make meaningful, practical changes in everyday work.
