Hey Suzie! It was great to meet you in person. I’d love to hear others’ opinions on this as well. I grew from .5FTE to now 2FTE and hoping to expand again. I think what helped most was proof of concept. I focused on one pathway, got basic data on how implementation of a kawasaki disease pathway reduced length of stay, improved time to aspirin/IVIG etc. The N was small, but it made a difference in how leadership saw the work I was doing (this was what got me the initial .5FTE). I also shared my vision for the work, where it could be with dedicated time- created a burning platform of sorts and really showed I knew where we could go with the right resources. Also aligned it with strategic vision.. talking about reducing variation in care. I now pull PHIS data and continue to show value when it comes to reduction of unnecessary tests/exposure to radiation etc. Tell a good story. Share how what we do makes a difference. I could go on- but that’s where I personally started!
